Y2J says he don't want to get all Christian or religious on you, but says if it wasn't forJesus Christ, there wouldn't be a Christmasor a holiday. He says what the F*** is all this"Happy Holidays" and "Season Greetings" and are afraid to say Merry Christmas. He says if you're Jewish, Hindu, David Koresh or a"Drakonian" [at least that's what it soundedlike he said] follower or whatever you're into, he says if it wasn't for Jesus, there'd beno day for a holiday and says to get over it and says no offense. He says he's Chris Jerichoand says today's show deals with Jesus Christ, the son of God who's born today which's why it is Christmas. He says to kick the show off, he played Soundgarden's "Jesus ChristPose".
Y2J says that song was a great riff that'spowerful and says Chris Cornell's voice ispowerful that jumps out of the speakers and punches him in the face. He then does apunching sound and says that's what it sounded like when he listens to that song.He says Audioslave's another great band and says no offense, but when Soundgardenwas going all the way with their song, it's 1of the best bands for the 90's. He then saysanother great band for the 90's, 2000 and today is Savatage that put out a conceptrecord 15 years ago "Streets" which's aboutD.T. Jesus who joined a band, success wentto his head who lost it all and says it was sortof a rock opera.
Y2J says Savatage's "Jesus Saves" which's what he'll be playing, talks about D.T. Jesusand says he'll be playing theirsong [Jesus Saves] because it's his birthday. He says he'll also play Slayer's version of"Jesus Saves" and says he bets they neverintended it to have it played on a Christmasspecial. He also says he's almost afraid toask what it really means, but says it fits his "Mo-teath" [again, that's what it soundedlike to me] for today. He then says for those that are not aware about Savatage, if you'veever seen the Trans-Siberian Orchestratraveling about at Christmas time and callsthem 1 of the big Christmas acts. He saysthey have a West Coast show and an EastCoast show with members of Savatage in each.
Y2J says it was created by Paul O'Neill and Jon Oliva and says their Christmas rock operas had opera singers with some pianoplaying and some great musicianship from theactual people in Savatage. He says it's notheavy metal, but it's something that you take your family to and says it's a Christmasshow. He then says they've been on showslike Oprah, but the funny thing about it that it was started by a couple of guys whowork in Savatage. He says next time yourMom wants to go to see the Trans-SiberianOrchestra, he says to say "Mom, I don'twanna go". He says you can see ChrisCaffery or Al Pitrelli play guitar, you can seeOliva sing and says at least you get somethingmetal out of it.
4. Y2J says Slayer's "Jesus Saves" is a littleChristmas ditty on XM 41 Da Boneyard. Hesays he's Chris Jericho on the Rock OfJericho and again says this is a special Christmas edition which's all based aroundJesus. He says Slayer's currently working ona new record, then says maybe not currently and says even Slayer celebrates Christmasand says he's sure that they do. Hesays they might celebrate it differently thanall of us do, then says he don't know and saysnext time he talks to Kerry King, he'll ask him. He then talks about Zakk Wylde goingto be inducted into the Hollywood Rock Walk Hall Of Fame 1/17:www.rockwalk.com/RWupcoming .
Y2J says Zakk's been a long favorite of hisshow and played his songs last week when Zakk was playing guitar on the Steel Dragon song [Long Live Rock & Roll]. He says next week, he'll probably play a songfrom Mafia, because next week he'll be doing a "best of" show which will be about the best records of the yearand says this week, he's doing the Jesus songs. He says ifyou're a Black Label [Society] fan, you'll know about "Doomsday Jesus" from "The Blessed Hellride" record. He then says whilehe's talking about next week's show, hesays he's been asked to plug what's goingon next and says usually he don't listen as towhat anyone tells him and calls himself a "Roge" [again, that's what it sounded like to me]and a rebel.
Y2J says his Rock Of Jericho sex-slave Manny asked him to promote that comingup next [after his show] you'll hear a couple of live concerts by Bon Jovi and Europe who's still touring. He says this year, they're having another reunionand says they all have the same hairstyle and look all the same and whipping some ass. He sayscoming up next [after his show] you'll hearlive performances from each of those bands[Bon Jovi and Europe]. He says he ain't surewho'll be first and says he thinks Bon Jovi'sfirst and says they should be. He says this is anXM exclusive 41 Bonefragment and says ifeither one had a song about Jesus, maybehe'd play it and says since they don't, he'll getback to Black Label Society.
Y2J then talks about Overkill who's beenaround for many years and says they've neverbeen super popular and maybe never got thedue that they deserved. He then says maybethey did get what they deserved, dependingon what side of the fence you're on. He saysyou can email him at messagesforchris@aol.com and says to let himknow if you're an Overkill fan and if they're underrated, overrated or did they get exactlywhat they deserved. He asks what would you do and then asked what would Jesus do ifhe was on this Earth. He asks if Jesus wouldbe an Overkill fan and says he's sure Jesus would be a Black Label fan.
6. Y2J says "Stone Cold Steve Austin, StoneCold Crazy and Stone Cold Jesus by Overkill".He again says he's Jericho and again says thisis the Rock Of Jericho Christmas Special. Hethen says there's a big tour coming acrossthe nation with Lenny Kravitz opening forAerosmith. He says Aerosmith's smartbecause over the last couple of tours thathe's seen, they've had Kravitz open for them, then Kid Rock opened for them, thenthey had Kiss opened for them or more likehad a dual concert with them. He then saysthey're smart because they take a hugeopening quote/unquote band with them and says it probably helps build the arenaswhich seems to be a hard thing to donowadays.
Y2J says Aerosmith's 1 of those bands that have been around for so long that pumpout the mediocre records and people want tosee them play their hits. He says Aerosmithjust released their blues covered record and says it's a famous blues cover of RobertJohnson's "Jesus Is On The Main Line". He then asks if that means if he's on a mainlinetrain or does that mean that Jesus ismainlining and says he's not sure. He saysmaybe next time Steven Tyler appears onhis show, he'll ask him and says until then,we'll have to "pontificate" [again, that's what that sounded like to me] as to what it means.
Y2J then talks about Great White having lots of ups and downs and says mostly downs inthe last few years. He says it's hard to believe that it's been almost 3 or 4 yearssince the horrible fire at the Great Whitegig at Providence, Rhode Island, that claimed the lives of about 100 rock & roll fans. He says it's funny how there's benefitsfor the people in Louisiana, for the Tsunami victims, but says what about a benefit for the victims in our own country who were at a F****** rock & roll show? He says he never saw a benefit for those guysand says you'd think like Great White which iskind of a rock band and you'd think Aerosmith, Kiss and all of these big bands would be there to have a benefit for thesepeople that had no insurance and didn't getany government breaks and says that's Bulls***.
Y2J says on Christmas Day, that's somethingwe should think about those poor people that lost their lives or were disfiguredand says we should try and start up a new fund forthe spirit of Christmas in the name of thevictims of the Great White tragedy. He saysit's his show and you have to listen to what hesays. He again plugs his email and says if youhave any opinions about the poor peopleof the Great White tragedy and says maybeyou were there and says if you were there toplease email him and tell him your story as towhat type of treatment you got. He then says on a lighter side of things, he says ifJesus was still here and he's looking down on us, he'd want us to do something about this and to be good to your fellow men, womenand children that were affected by this fire.
Y2J says this is rock & roll and we're 1 bigfamily and says that's all he's got to say about that. He says it's Christmas Dayand says we should think about those that aren't as fortunate as us.
8. Y2J says that song [Wooden Jesus] is a cool track from Jack Russell of Great Whiteand calls Great White a band that won't bethe same again. He says he don't know ifthey're still playing or gigging. He then talks about being pissed off earlier about the survivors of the people who got lost ordied in the [Great White] fire and their treatment. He says he wants to know what's going onand says he won't let it fade away and says let's get back to some morerock & roll. He then mentions "StrangeHighways" and Ronnie James Dio and says Diowas played last week on his show. He saysDio did songs about rock & roll and says Diodid a song about Jesus and it's called "Jesus,Mary & The Holy Ghost".
Y2J says that song's from the "StrangeHighways" record with Tracy G on guitar and Jeff Pilson on bass and says there's a greatbass sound on that song. He says it's reallycool and a very weird song, he says he likes it and it's a perfect song to play in this set. Healso says he was gonna play the song"Quicksand Jesus" by Skid Row, but felt thathe played lots of Skid Row style music as wellas play a lot of Dio. But he says "Jesus, Mary& The Holy Ghost" is a great song and wantedto hear it. He then says another band thathe's never played on his show is MarilynManson. He says he's not a huge fan and saysthey have some creepy type songs, but saysthey have a cover of Depeche Mode's song"Personal Jesus".
Y2J says that song fits, because it's Christmas Day. He says these are songsabout Jesus, a show about Jericho and achannel about heavy metal music on theChristmas Day. He then says Merry Christmas from Jericho and Dio.
10. Y2J says you can say what you want about Manson, but he's got a creepy voice. He says it also proves that if you're a rockstar, you pick up chicks and says look at thechicks that Manson's with. He mentions Rose McGowan from the show "Charmed"as an example. He then mentions that Manson has a stripper with [as Y2J said "thebig guns"] named "Diva Von Fleece" orsomething like that. He then says tell him ifthat skinny, pasty, weird, freaky guy Marilyn Manson can be picking up any ofthose chicks if he wasn't in a rock band. Hesays he defies you to tell him that he's wrong.
Y2J then talks about as he says, an obviousmix of a Christian rock band Stryper and saysif you ever think of a Christian rock band orJesus and rock & roll, Stryper's the first bandthat comes to mind. He says their album"Reborn" is a bit disappointing to him, butstill says they're 1 of his favorite bands thathas 1 of the double guitar sounds but reallythey have only a single guitar. He talks about Michael Sweet that put the guitardown and just sings and says Sweet's 1 of thegreatest voices in rock & roll and also says he's 1 of his favorites. He then talks aboutanother band that he never played beforebecause he didn't know that is was in the system and says it's Bride.
Y2J ask if you've ever heard of Bride and saysif you haven't, you're missing out 1 of themost powerful voices in heavy metal by aguy named Dale Thompson. He says Dalewas in Stryper for a while when Sweet left and says Dale's a very devout Christianand apreacher who knows what he's talking about. He says Bride's been around for about 20 years now. He says they're still sticking out and very popular in Brazil and saysthey're 1 of the big bands in Brazil. He alsosays they're popular in Germany and says they still play here in the USA. He says hewants you to listen to this track that he saysit's a great song from their record "SnakesIn The Playground" in 1992 and says it's beenaround for 13 years.
He then says the way we act at Christmastime is the way we should act all year round. He says God bless you, thanks forlistening to his show, he's looking forwardto a brand new year and a great new year. Hesays he hopes you got all that you wanted and all of your dreams have come true. He sayshe'll see you next week on his show on his"Albums Of The Year Awards". He then saysfor today, it's Christmas, God bless you and says let's give a thumbs up to Jesus. He sayshe's over, finished, gone, done and out and endsby saying Merry Christmas.
